Social by Faith is a space for people of every religion, spirituality, and background to connect through honest dialogue. We take the trust you place in us seriously — especially because this is a place where people share personal beliefs and stories.
This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the Social by Faith mobile app (the "App"), you agree to the practices described here.
Who we are
The App is operated by Social by Faith LLC ("we," "us," or "our"), based in Florida, USA. If you have any questions about this policy or your data, you can reach us at info@socialbyfaith.org.
Information we collect
We collect the following categories of information in order to provide the App:
Information you provide
- Account information — your email address and password when you create an account.
- Profile information — your display name, and optionally a bio, faith tradition, general location or region, and a profile photo. You choose what to share, and much of this is optional.
- Content you create — posts, comments, likes, event listings, and event RSVPs you make in the App.
- Safety reports — if you report content or another user, we collect the report and the reason you provide so we can review it.
Information collected automatically
- Usage and device information — through Google Firebase, we may collect basic device information, app activity, and diagnostic or crash data that helps us keep the App working reliably.
- Push notification tokens — if you enable notifications, we store a token that lets us send you relevant alerts (such as when someone comments on your post).
Payment information
- Donations and subscriptions — when you make a donation or purchase a subscription, payments are processed by our payment providers (Stripe and, for app-store subscriptions, the applicable app store and RevenueCat). We do not collect or store your full card or bank details on our own servers — that information is handled directly by those providers under their own security standards. We may receive limited records such as the transaction amount, status, and date.
How we use your information
We use the information we collect to:
- Create and manage your account and profile;
- Display your posts, comments, and events to other users as intended by the App's features;
- Enable social features such as following, liking, commenting, and RSVPing to events;
- Process donations and subscriptions;
- Send you notifications you've enabled;
- Keep the community safe — including reviewing reports and enforcing our rules;
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and improve the App.
How your information is shared
We do not sell your personal information. Information is shared only in these ways:
- With other users — your profile, posts, comments, and events are visible to other people using the App. Please only share what you're comfortable making visible to the community.
- With service providers — we use trusted third-party services to operate the App, including Google Firebase (authentication, database, storage, notifications), Stripe (payments), and RevenueCat (subscription management). These providers process data on our behalf under their own privacy and security terms.
- For legal reasons — we may disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users, the public, or Social by Faith LLC.
Your choices and rights
- Edit your profile — you can update or remove most profile information at any time in the App.
- Block and report — you can block other users so their content no longer appears to you, and report content or users that violate our rules.
- Notifications — you can turn push notifications on or off in your device settings.
- Delete your account — you may request deletion of your account and associated personal data by contacting us at info@socialbyfaith.org. Some information may be retained where required for legal, security, or legitimate business purposes.
Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the App. If you delete your account, we will delete or de-identify your personal information within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain it (for example, records of financial transactions).
Data security
We use industry-standard measures — including the security infrastructure provided by Google Firebase and Stripe — to protect your information. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children's privacy
Social by Faith is intended for users 13 years of age and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at info@socialbyfaith.org and we will take steps to delete it.
International users
The App is operated from the United States. If you access it from outside the U.S., you understand that your information will be processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your country.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Significant changes may be communicated within the App. Your continued use of the App after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
